Professional Clinical Exfoliation Treatments

Medical grade ingredients combined with organic acids provide a safe resurfacing treatment which removes the unwanted dead skin cells, making way for healthy, new rejuvenated skin.



Grape Enzyme Peel


A versatile and gentle peel with a 20% multi-fruit and glycolic acid complex to exfoliate the upper epidermis while conditioning the skin to a radiant and fresh complexion. The grape wine polyphenols condition the skin and offer antioxidant benefits while the glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane, removes dead skin cells to make way for new, young skin. Most effective on pre-treated skin. For the most effective results, a series of six treatments is recommended in which each treatment is performed every 2 to 4 weeks.  A maintenance program of quarterly treatments is recommended.




Glycolactic Peel 70RX - Skin Type: mature, dry, sun damage, hyperpigmented and aging skin.

(Not suitable for Rosacea or sensitive skin.)


This professional AHA peel solution contains a combination of 35% pharmaceutical glycolic and 35% lactic acid. The quality of ingredients allows for intense penetration, active exfoliation and balancing hydration for the treatment of fine lines, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and improvement of all over skin cell function. Aloe Vera provides a soothing balance. For the most effective results, a series of six treatments is recommended in which each treatment is performed every 2 to 4 weeks. Following the initial treatment series, a maintenance program of quarterly treatments is recommended.


Salicylic Peel 20RX - Skin Type: oily, acneic, pigmented, sun damaged, normal skin.

(Not suitable for extremely sensitive skin.)


This 20% salicylic solution, both hydrophilic and lipophilic, provides intense exfoliation for problematic or oily skin areas, even within oil-rich pores, while expediting cellular renewal for a perfect complexion. This professional AHA is an ideal choice for oily and acneic skin. The tea tree oil draws out impurities, while licorice brightens and reduces inflammation. For the most effective results, a series of six treatments is recommended in which each treatment is performed every 2 to 4 weeks. A home maintenance regime is mandatory.

Treatment Protocols


Pre-Treatment:  The pre-treatment program requires at least 2 weeks of use with the prescribed homecare products to properly prepare the skin for a smooth, even peel. For optimal results you should use the prescribed homecare products in a daily regimen as a pre-treatment program.



Post-Treatment: Immediately after treatment and daily for 5-7 days you will need to use the prescribed post-treatment homecare products. After 7 days, you will need to follow a homecare maintenance regime customized for your skin type, this is very crucial in attaining ongoing improvement. In order to achieve optimal results, it is mandatory to follow the skin care guidelines given by your Cara Skin Care Specialist.



Pre-treatment Instructions for Clinical Exfoliation

If you are prone to cold sores, you will need to contact your physician for antiviral medication to avoid a post treatment breakout. It is recommended you begin prophylaxis two (2) days prior to treatment and continue for five (5) days post treatment.

Discontinue use of over the counter Retinol, Glycolic and other Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Salicylic or Beta Hydroxy Acids, or other exfoliation products three to five (3-5) days prior to treatment.

Discontinue use of prescription Retinoid products (Retin-A, Renova, Tretinoin, Avita, Alustra or other brands of Tretinoin), other prescription Retinoid products (Adapalene, Avage, Differin, Tazorac, Tazarotene) 3-5 days prior to treatment.

No waxing, electrolysis, other hair removal products or methods within seven (7) days prior to treatment.

No Botox, Collagen, or other Dermal Filler injections within 14 days prior to treatment.

Follow Cara Skin Care pre-treatment home care product recommendations. Optimal results are achieved by following a home care regimen that will enhance the treatment process.

Post-Treatment Instructions for Clinical Exfoliation

 A skin peel or MDA procedure can exfoliate up to 25 microns of the top surface (stratum corneum) of your skin. The stratum corneum is made up of dead skin cells that provide a buffer to your living cells. Any substance that is applied post treatment is absorbed very quickly and deeply.

A slight rosy glow may appear for approximately 24-48 hours. Your skin may feel “wind burned” and will also be more vulnerable. The risk of getting sunburned following a treatment increases dramatically.

You may experience some dry skin and mild peeling after your treatment. This may occur for a few days.

You may resume your daily activities or return to work immediately.

Cosmetic make up can be applied following a treatment. If you experience discomfort following make-up application, remove it.

PostTX Remedy Soothing Moisturizer & Daily Solar Guard SPF 25 will be applied to your skin before you leave. You must protect your skin every day with Daily Solar Guard and avoid direct sun exposure.

Do not use glycolic, alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, retinol, benzoyl peroxide or topical acne medications for 24-48 hours following treatment. You may resume products after this period or as instructed by your technician.

You may resume prescription retinoid products (Retin A, Renova, Tretinoin, Avita,

Alustra or other brands of Tretinoin) and other prescription retinoid products (Adapalene, Avage, Differin, Tazorac, Tazarotene) seven (7) days after last treatment, or as instructed by your technician.

If you are receiving a series of treatments, do not resume any of these products until after you have feeling.

completed your last microdermabrasion or chemical peel treatment, if you are doing those two (2) weeks between treatments.

Cold compresses can provide relief from the “wind-burned” feeling.

Prior to a waxing, electrolysis or other hair removal method treatment please notify your technician that you recently had a microdermabrasion or chemical peel treatment.

Refrain from Botox, Collagen or other Filler injections for seven (7) days following a treatment.

Avoid exercise for at least a few hours after procedure.

Drink additional water.
